To become a member or trainee of =UKLF=, we not only 'expect' or 'require', but actually insist on a number of commitments from anyone wishing to join our team.
This is not because we take ourselves too seriously because at the end of the day our overall emphasis is to play any games we play for maximum fun & pleasure. However we have grown to recognise that membership of =UKLF= squadrons means far more than just on-line gaming.

Indeed we've become fully aware that 'virtual relationships' are actually quite real in nature, and just because you don't (often) see the people you play with in person does not mean your friendships and relationships are any less real. So because we recognise the reality of the strong friendships built by those who've made it into our teams, we admit to being ultra careful in maintaining those friendships, particularly when changing the team dynamics by bringing someone 'new' into the fold. I.E. a new recruit.
Therefore our recruitment process is lengthy by anyone's standards, so if you are reading this and want in to a team overnight... best you stop reading now we think 'cos it ain't going to happen with =UKLF=.

Everyone who wears our regimental tags either (=UKLF=) has worked hard and long to earn that right. To do so there are NO exceptions.

We also recognise that individual skills are nothing more than that. We focus on team play and shared pleasures, so we're far less interested in people's gaming skill levels, because we believe our training and development programme is such that we can bring the best out of pretty much anyone. So we look harder at a persons attitude than skill or game play levels when we consider inviting someone to join our training and recruitment rosters.
So in essence, here are a list of the commitments we require from you before we will even consider your application.

Membership of other on-line teams:

Because of the time demands we in =UKLF= ask of any trainee or member we believe it unfair to ask someone to actively participate in our team whilst they are active in any other gaming team, whether that is LW, GR or whatever. Therefore we will not accept applications from anyone with a membership of another on-line gaming team, so if you are in another on-line organisation, please don't waste your time or ours by applying.

Training:

Because 'your mates' make the effort and juggle their personal real lives around our joint training times we insist that you do so too. Letting your mates down by not turning up on line is precisely the same as letting them down when you've asked them to turn up at the pub... and then you don't show. Do this regularly in real life and you do in fact become 'Billy no mates'. Do it here with us and you're gone. If for any reason you cannot make at least two regular on line training or match sessions per week as a minimum, please don't waste your time or ours by applying.

There's no 'I' in 'team':

You may be the greatest player of your chosen =UKLF= team genre. We have no doubt that everyone within the regiment will acknowledge and revere those skills, but if you cannot transfer that individual talent into making your team better, then we all need to recognise that you are not a team player, and to a man (or woman) everyone in =UKLF= is, so therefore you would have no place within our team.

If you play a game where (at your commander's request) you do nothing more than die by drawing enemy fire so as to enable your team to win a game, and you end the match feeling frustrated, you are not for =UKLF=, because every existing member would do precisely that to bring about a team win. A win for the team is a win for everyone. A win for you is nothing more than that. If for any reason you feel unable to do this when required, please don't waste your time or ours by applying.

On line duration:

When you train, doing so for half an hour is no good to us. You already know how long a good, tight game can last, and as we will normally play the best of three, we need you there for the duration. So if you cannot commit to staying on line for at least two and a half hours on a training or match night, please don't waste your time or ours by applying.

Maturity:

Most of us in =UKLF= are 'old enough to know better'. We're a team made up of adults who probably don't want to grow up any more... but we are all 'mature' in our approach to on line gaming. Although we do not apply an age discrimination policy we generally tend to appeal to those of us with a more mature approach to life. If this doesn't suit you, please don't waste your time or ours by applying.

Addendum

In =UKLF= we all recognise that on line gaming is precisely that, and that is should never be confused with real life. So if you cannot make your minimum commitment to us at any time because of the demands of real life, we will understand it.

In this instance we ask for a simple courtesy that you would apply to any friend, and that is to let people know as far in advance as possible so you minimise the impact of not being able to support them as you normally would. Remember, your virtual friendship is as real as any other you have.
